Elks score three times in third but fall to Blazers 4-3

The Brookfield Elks after winning their opening game of the season Friday night in Lantz in overtime, played the Sackville blazers hard in Sackville Monday night before losing a squeaker 4-3 to the Blazers.  The Blazers jumped out quickly to 3-0 and 4-1 leads but hung on at the end when the Elks scored three third period goals but were unable to score the tying goal.  Jaden Hardie scored the opening goal of the game while also collecting a pair of assists for the 1-1-0 Blazers.  Zachary Jenkins scored twice and added an assist for Sackville with Ryan MacDonald scoring the other Blazers goal.  It was 3-0 Blazers after forty minutes before Brendan Rose of the Elks tallied 2:03 into the final frame.  Just 34 seconds later Jenkins scored his second of the game to put the Blazers ahead 4-1.  It proved to be the game winning goal as Dawson Blanchard’s power-play goal with 12:42 showing on the clock and Luke Jansen-Faught’s goal with only 2:53 remaining in regulation moved the 1-1-0 Elks to within a goal.  Blazers net minder Bryson Uberoi and Elks Goalie Pablo De Larrinaga both played exceptionally strong games with the Elks outshooting Sackville 42-41.
