Blazers return to .500 mark with win

The Sackville Blazers moved back to the .500 level with a 5-4 home ice win over the Valley Maple Leafs Monday night. The Blazers edged the Leafs despite being outshot 40-37.  The Blazers are now 7-7-1 for 15 points.  They are 1 point ahead of the 5th place Liverpool Privateers for the fourth and final playoff spot In the Fox Division.  The Blazers led 4-0 after the opening period on goals from Ethan Black, Devon Geddes, Justin Hardie and Degen Noble.  The Leafs roared back in the second to score three times with Robbie Dowell scoring twice and adding a pair of assists and Carter Graves also scoring.  With 6:45 to play, the Blazers Daniel Surrette scored the game winner.  Surrette, Geddes and Noble all collected a pair of assists as well for the Blazers.  It was 5-3 but the Leafs never gave up for a second as Terran Baillie scored on the power-play with 1:16 remaining in regulation to make the final score 5-4.
