Privateers now trail 2-0
If the Liverpool Privateers hope to improve on their play in the Fred Fox Divisional Final, they will have to win on home ice, something they failed to do in their opening round semi-final playoff series with the East Hants Penguins as they defeated East Hants 4-3, winning all 4 games in Lantz. During the regular season the Privateers finished with a home record of 6-6-3 while on the road they were 8-6-1.
Friday night the Privateers facing solid goaltending again from the Fox Division MVP Alex MacVicar who blocked 33 of 34 shots directed his way were defeated 5-1 with the Colts never trailing, holding period leads of 1-0, 3-1 and the final 5-1. Will MacRae put the Colts up 1-0 after twenty minutes and then Liam Andrews made it 2-0 in the second before Daniel Kline netted one for the Privateers on the power-play. It was the only goal the Privateers would score as Trayner McCulloch made it 3-1 at the end of 40 minutes for the Colts and Cooper Puma and Benjamin Veinot salted the game away for the Colts with two more goals for the Colts in the third. Matt Jessome and Ben King added a pair of assists for the Colts who will now travel to Queens County Saturday March 27 and Sunday March 28 with hopes of getting back into the series. Game 3 is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tonight at the Queens Place Emera Centre and Game 4 at the same location Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The winner of the Colts and Privateers will play the winner of the Antigonish-Eskasoni series which the Bulldogs lead 2-0 going into Games 3 and 4 in Antigonish Saturday night and Eskasoni Sunday night for the 2022-23 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Championship Series.
