Championship Series now 1-1

The Capstone Colts evened their Best-of-Seven Nova Scotia Junior Hockey Championship series with the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs at home East Sunday afternoon as they doubled the Bulldogs 4-2.  After having a difficult time with special teams in Friday’s opening game in Antigonish when they gave up 3 power-play goals and a short-handed goal, the Colts took only three minor penalties in Game 2.  Nick Marshall put the Bulldogs up 1-0 early in the first before Liam Andrews tied it at 1-1 after twenty minutes.  Only 1:03 into the second period, Griffin Peers put the Colts up 2-1 and then Andrews scored his second of the game mid-way through the second.  Will Fitzsimmons pulled the Bulldogs back to within a goal by the end of the second period but Cole Good’s power-play marker with slightly more than three minutes to play was the final goal of the game and gave the Colts their 4-2 win.  Cody Garcin and Trayner McCulloch both added a pair of assists for the winners.  The Bulldogs outshot the Colts 36-24.  Capstone returns to Antigonish Wednesday night for Game 3 in the series.  Game 4 will be back at C.F.B. Shearwater Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
