South Shore team named Lumberjacks

                                               South Shore Team named Lumber Jacks

 

              Team Governor Jim Bottomley says he wanted to include all South Shore Hockey Fans from Chester to Liverpool in naming the transfer of the Liverpool Privateers to Bridgewater to become the South Shore Lumberjacks. Earlier this summer Bottomley announced the transfer of the Privateers to Bridgewater.  At this time, the team's name was not officially announced for the 23-24 season.  The Lumberjacks will play out of the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre in Bridgewater.  The Lumberjacks will actually play four of their first five games on the road in the 32-game regular season.  Starting Sept 15, the Lumberjacks will visit Port Hawkesbury, on the 16th they go up against the Membertou Jr. Miners and on Sunday Sept 17, they will finish their opening weekend of play with an afternoon game in Eskasoni.  The Lumberjacks will play the Jr. Miners on Saturday, Sept 23 at home before hitting the road again in Windsor for the Valley Maple Leafs home opener at 7:30 on Seept 29.

             The latest home opener will be for the Pictou County Scotians as they host the Sackville Blazers Sunday, October 15.  Other clubs playing their home opener opening night Seept 15 will be the Cumberland County Blues facing off against the Valley Maple Leafs, the East Hants Penguins facing the Blazers in Lantz on Sept 15 and the Scotia Colts playing host to the Brookfield Elks as well on the 15th.

              Other home openers include Antigonish on Sunday, Sept 17 when they face off against the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates, Sackville when they play host to the Cumberland County Blues on Monday, Sept 18 and the Brookfield Elks who open at home against Antigonish Saturday, Sept 23.
