Colts looking to make it 7-0-0
This evening begins the second month of regulation season play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League. The biggest disappointments to date in the 23-24 season are with the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles starting this season at 0-3-1 and the Brookfield Elks at 0-3-0. In fact the Elks have scored only two goals in their opening 3 games. Eskasoni is coming off a 21-8-1 season for 43 points and second place in the Sid Rowe Division. Their 0-3-1 start in 23-24 has them occupying the basement. In the Fred Fox Division, the Elks who finished 22-23 at 14-13-3 for 31 points. Something has to give as the Elks compete with the Jr. Eagles in a 4:00 p.m. start at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex.
Prior to Saturday’s game on their way back to Cape Breton, the Jr. Ragles go up against the Valley Maple Leafs in a 7:30 start at the West Hants Sportsplex in Windsor at 7:30 p.m. The Leafs have gotten off to another rough start, something fans are hoping will change soon. The Leafs are presently at 1-4-0 after missing the playoffs last year with a 4-24-2 record.
The Capstone Colts are hosting the Pictou County Scotians in Shearwater as the Colts who are undefeated this season and will be looking for their 7th straight win against the 3-2-0 Scotians.
Two other games tonight have the 6-1-0 East Hants Penguins going up against the 2-3-0 Pirates in Port Hawkesbury at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile the Sackville Blazers who understand what breaking losses after a pair this season. The Blazers take their 2-2-2 record into Springhill to face the 2-3-0 hometown Cumberland County Blues.
