Scotians severely disciplined by League

                                                                                        Scotians face NSJHL Discipline

No matter what sport, organization and life in general, rules and regulations are all part of it.  Unfortunately for the Pictou County Scotians, they have been dealt a severe punishment, following an in-depth investigation by League Officials into allegations regarding the Scotians' participation in games with an illegal roster. The investigation unearthed compelling evidence suggesting the team had, in fact, listed an ineligible player on their scoresheet during a total of eleven games.

Following regulations set forth by Hockey Canada and Hockey Nova Scotia, League President Gerard MacDonald said the league has taken strict measures in response to these violations. Consequently, the points earned by the Pictou County Scotians in wins on October 8th, 13th, 27th and November 5th, 11th,12th,19th and 24th have been nullified. These games are officially recognized as forfeits, with opposing teams awarded Two (2) points per game.  This will mean an additional two wins for the South Shore Lumberjacks and one win apiece for the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles, Brookfield Elks, Membertou Jr. Miners, Valley Maple Leafs, East Hants Penguins and the Capstone Colts based out of C.F.B. Shearwater.

In addition, the head coach of the Pictou County team will serve a five-game suspension as a result of these violations.

It is paramount for all League teams to ensure all players are signed properly because if they are not, it becomes a huge liability as these players were not insured nor was anybody in the games they played in because their status’s would have made the HNS/HC insurance void due to playing ineligible players.

The league will not be providing any additional comments on this issue as the investigation has been concluded.
