Nine Games scheduled in NSJHL Play this weekend
With only 11 days to go before the Christmas Break, three games are on tap in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League between Friday, Dec 1 and Monday Dec 4. The Brookfield Elks and Valley Maple Leafs have not been eliminated from playoff competition in the Fred Fox Division but they certainly need a few wins in the coming weeks to make the playoffs a potential reality.
Likewise in the Sid Rowe Division as after last week’s punishment by the League Executive for the use of an Illegal player, the Pictou County Scotians have appealed the executive decision and until a decision is handed down on the appeal, they will be looking for their 15th win of the season tonight. The Scotians will play this weekend with a visit to Windsor to play the 5-11-1 Valley Maple Leafs tonight at 7:30 before going to Membertou for a game with the Jr. Miners Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m.
In what will likely be a strong hard-hitting game, the Strait Pirates host the Capstone Colts Friday evening at 7:30 at the Strait Civic Centre. The Colts will try and either take over first in the Fox Division with a win or at least remain tied as the East Hants Penguins play at home to the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles at 7:30 on Friday as well.
Saturday:
Three games on the docket Dec 2 as well with the 18-1-1 Antigonish AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs visiting the Brookfield Elks while the South Shoe Lumberjacks are at home in a 7:00 p.m. start to Eskasoni. The other game is of course Pictou in Membertou.
Sunday:
Two games will see the Lumberjacks travel to Membertou for a make-up game from the beginning of the season while the Valley Maple Leafs go up against the East Hants Penguins in a 7:30 start at the John Paris Jr. Rink in Windsor.
Monday:
The Elks certainly do not have an easy weekend as after their game with the Jr. Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon, they head into Sackville for a 7:30 start on Monday evening.
