Elks surprise Blazers
The Brookfield Elks might be 11 points away from a playoff berth in the Fred Fox Division but obviously does not factor when they hit the ice, as they did Monday evening in Sackville where they surprised the home team, the Blazers 3-1. All of the game’s four goals were scored in the second period with Will Stewart and McClellan Cale scoring in the opening 1:20 of the second period before Jack Broderick brought the Blazers back to within a goal. However before anyone could blink, Head Coach Dwight Dempster saw his team fall behind by two goals again when Gabe Simone scored 42 seconds after Broderick. Connor Blackwood faced 42 shots in the Blazers net while Thomas Gariepy stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced. The Elks improved to 7-14-1 through 22 games, they have 10 regular season games remaining while the Blazers are hanging tough in fourth place with an 11-9-4 record for 26 points.
