Weather playing havoc with Jr. Schedule

The weather has postponed another game on the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Schedule for tis week.  After the Brookfield Elks and Sackville Blazers had to postpone their game Monday evening in Sackville, “Ole Man Winter” has the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates and the Pictou County Scotians moving their game from tonight in the Strait to Tuesday, Feb 13 at 7:30 p.m.

20 centimetres of now or 8 inches is forecast in many areas across Nova Scotia between now and Saturday at Lunch Hour with strong northeast winds and a wind chill dipping into the double digits.  In saying this, two games are still scheduled for the League as of 2:20 p.m. Friday afternoon.  One will see the South Shore Lumberjacks travelling to East Hants for a 7:30 start and the other seeing the Valley Maple Leafs travelling to the old Forum at C.F.B. Shearwater for a 7:30 start with the Capstone Colts.

The League is scheduled to conclude their regular season Feb 24, so games are all vital as teams try to finish their 32 game schedule and get as good a playoff seeding as they can.  East Hants starts tonight with 41 points and in first place in the Fred Fox Division while the Colts are second with 39 and the Lumberjacks third with 37.  Then on Saturday, East Hants travels to Brookfield while the Colts visit Bridgewater for a game with the Lumberjacks, so as you can see, it will be intriguing to see who sits where at the conclusion of play Saturday evening, providing we have no additional weather disruptions.  Eskasoni is also playing Membertou Saturday evening in the first of a home and home this weekend while Port Hawkesbury who have been so hot and cold of late will travel to Antigonish for a Sunday night clash with the 23-1-2 Jr. Bulldogs.  The Strait trails the Jr. Miners by 2 points in the race for 2nd in the Sid Rowe Division.
