Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Withdraws from Don Johnson Cup
June 10, 2025 – Halifax, NS – The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League (NSJHL) has officially announced its withdrawal from participation in the Don Johnson Cup, effective immediately. This decision was made following a vote by the league’s Board of Governors.
“This was not a decision we took lightly,” said Gerard MacDonald, President of the NSJHL. “As the landscape of junior hockey in our region continues to evolve, we believe it is essential to prioritize the internal development and strengthening of our league's operations and structure.”
The NSJHL remains committed to fostering the growth of junior hockey across Nova Scotia and will continue to support its players and member teams in every possible way. The league views this decision as a necessary step toward long-term sustainability and success.
“We’re grateful to the Atlantic branches and all those who have been involved with the Don Johnson Cup over the years,” added Gerard. “Our focus now is on building a stronger future for junior hockey in Nova Scotia.”
