Privateers even season series with Pens
After losing to the East Hants Penguins on home ice Oct 16 by a score of 5-3, the Liverpool Privateers were determined not to lose two in a row as they went to Lantz Friday, Oct 22 and squeaked out a 3-2 verdict over the Penguins. The Privateers held period leads of 2-1 and 3-2 and received a goal and an assist from Jude Greenwood to pace them to victory. Josh Nicholson made it 2-0 Privateers in the second before AJ Guildford brought the Penguins back to within a single goal. Greenwood’s goal proved to be the winner with 12:52 left in the third period. Evan McHenry scored one on the power-play with only 48 seconds remaining but it was as close as the Penguins would get despite outshooting the Privateers 41-26. Marshall Plandowski collected a pair of assists for the Pens who are now 3-3-0 on the season compared to Liverpool’s record of 4-3-0. Liverpool trails first place Sackville in the Fox Division by a single point and will not play at home this Saturday Oct 30. Their next two games are on the road as they will play the Scotians in Pictou Sunday Oct 31 and Port Hakwesbury in the Strait Nov 5 before returning to the South Shore to complete a home and home with the Strait Pirates Saturday Nov 6. East Hants wil be at home to the Capstone Colts Friday Oct 29 before playing in Brookfield Saturday afternoon Oct 30 at 4:00 p.m.
