Huge number of critical games this weekend

A number of very significant games in store this weekend in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League.  The undefeated Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates take their 4-0-0 record into a home and home series with the 4-3-0 Liverpool Privateers.  The first game will be played in the Strait at the Civic Centre Friday evening before the teams hit the road for the conclusion of their home Saturday night in Liverpool.  The Strait Pirates are the top defensive team in the league to date this season having only allowed 7 goals against in the 4 games they have played.

 
The Sackville Blazers will attempt to take over the overall points lead when they travel to Antigonish Sunday evening.  It will be a clash iff the league’s two top teams with the best records as the AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs are 7-0-0 for 14 points while the Blazers are 6-2-1 for 13 points.
 
The Cumberland County Blues coming off a 4-0 whitewashing by the Pictou County Scotians Oct 29 in Springhill will travel to Trenton for a pair of games this weekend.  The Scotians and Blues will play at 12:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon and again Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m.  A hectic weekend for the Scotians as they will also play the Valley Maple Leafs in Windsor Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
 
The struggling 1-7-0 Eskasoni Jr. Eagles will be looking for their 2nd and potentially third wins of the season as they visit the capstone Colts at CFB Shearwater Friday night before travelling to Brookfield Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.  The Elks will be looking for their 1st win of the season.
 
The other key game this weekend takes place in Lantz Friday evening when the 6-2-1 Sackville Blazers visit the East Hants Penguins.  The Pens would very much like to pull within 3 points fo the Blazers for first place before Sackville goes to Antigonish Sunday night.
