Leafs and Jr. Eagles both record 2nd wins

he Valley Maple Leafs in playing to date, perhaps their best game of the season downed the Pictou County Scotians 6-4 at the West Hants Sports Complex in Windsor Friday evening Nov 6.  The Leafs received a huge game from relative newcomer Carson Gallant who in only his 3rd game with the Leafs this season scored twice and added 2 assists for the Leafs.  One of Gallant’s goals was the game winner with 12:41 to play in the third period.  Brady MacLean also scored twice for the Leafs while adding an assist.  Jake Hunt and Hayden Richardson tallied the other Leaf goals.  Pictou led 1-0 after one period and the Leafs took a 3-2 lead going into the third.  The Scotians Jack Graham playing in nets for the visitors did not have one of his better games as Pictou outshot the Leafs 50-39 with Aidan Durnford coming up strong with a number of key saves for the Leafs.  The Leafs have had their third period struggles this season but that was not a problem Friday evening.  Scoring for the Scotians were Blake Kontuk with a pair while Thomas Kennally and Nathan Peters tallied singles.  The Leafs are now 2-5-0 and the Scotians 3-3-0 heading into their  two games at home this weekend against the 2-4-1 Cumberland County Blues.

 
Eskasoni  6   Capstone Colts 3
 
At the CFB Halifax arena in Shearwater Friday night, the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles doubled up the Capstone Colts 6-3.  The Colts dominated in shots outshooting the Jr. Eagles 44-25 with Andre LeClair playing exceptionally solid between the pipes for Eskasoni.  Curtis Novak scored twice and added an assist for the Jr. Eagles while MacQueen Kendall, Omar Gould, Adam Willison and Nick Burke with the game winning goal were the other Eskasoni goal scorers.  For the Colts who jumped in front 2-0, Patrick Oxner scored a short-handed goal while Cooper Puma and Ryan Welsh scored the other two Colt goals.  Eskasoni is now 2-7-0 while the Colts fell to 3–3-0.
