Strait now 5-0-0, Blazers win 7th

In what is shaping up to be a classic home and home weekend series, the Liverpool Privateers and Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates played game one  at the Civic Centre Friday Nov 5 in Port Hawkesbury.  The Strait Pirates squeaked out a 4-3 overtime win with Lewis Taylor scoring his third of the game for the Strait with 3:31 left in the five-minute sudden-death while Blake Chase was serving a two-minute minor penalty for Boarding which he received with 3:51 left in overtime.  The Privateers who clearly controlled a large portion of the game outshooting the Strait 68-37 but they somehow could not contain Taylor.  The Privateers led 1-0 after 40 minutes before Taylor struck for his first two goals before the third period was two minutes old, the goals coming 17 seconds apart.  Daniel Kline tied it for Liverpool.  Gregor Yoell the put the Pirates up 3-2 with 6:36 to play but Daniel Kline with his second of the period for Liverpool scored on the power-play with 4:23 left in regulation.  Alec Howie had given the Privateers their 1-0 lead with his first period goal.  Matthew Spinella turned away 65 of 68 shots in the Strait nets.  The two teams will be back in Liverpool for a 7:00 p.m. start Saturday evening.  For the Strait, they are now 5-0-0 while Liverpool fell to 4-3-1.

Brock MacNeil did all the scoring for the first place Blazers in the opening period as the Blazers won their 7th in ten games while the East Hants Penguins fell a game under .500 to 4-5-0.  Sackville went up 4-0 after forty minutes on goals from Jack Walsh and Noah Healy.  Max Turner scored the lone Penguins goal in the third period.  Degen Noble added a pair of assists for the Blazers.
