2 Remembrance Day Games
The Holiday Thursday remembering our veterans who fought and died provided NSJHL Teams with time to reflect at 11:11a.m. before four teams hit the ice for a pair of league games in the afternoon. In Liverpool at the Queens Place Emera Centre:
Antigonish 5 Liverpool 3
The AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs won their 9th consecutive game of the 21-22 season 5-3 over the Liverpool Privateers. The offensive juggernauts of the Bulldogs all had huge games as Fearghus MacDonald scored twice and added two assists while Sam Mattie and Jake MacDonald each scored once and added 3 assists. Ryan MacLellan added the other Antigonish goal. The AA Munro Bulldogs held period leads of 2-1 and 3-2 before Josh Nicholson tied it for the Privateers 7:40 into the third. Liverpool couldn’t hang on as Fearghus MacDonald’s goal proved to be the game winner before Jake MacDonald scored his into an empty net with 28 seconds left in regulation. Chris Meredith and Alec Howie tallied the other Privateer goals. Liverpool is now 5-4-1 on the season going into their game with Cole Harbour Capstone Colts in Shearwater Friday night. The Jr. Bulldogs prevailed in shots 33-31 over the Privateers.
East Hants 10 Valley 1
The East Hants Penguins made their 2nd and final trip to Windsor for the regular season and will only return for a playoff series if necessary as they clobbered the Maple Leafs 10-1. The Penguins were up 5-0 after one period, 7-0 after forty minutes and then 8-0 before Ryan MacDonald finally spoiled the Pens bid at a shut-out. The Pens were up 5-0 before you could practically blink scoring three times in 1:45 in the opening period. Evan McHenry and Robbie Dowell both scored twice for the Penguins while each added an assist. Logan Colter and Morgan Lake each scored while adding three assists respectively while Ethan Wheeler and Marshall Plandowski scored a goal apiece with both adding a pair of assists. The Penguins outshot the Leafs 52-29 and outscored them 16-4 in the 2 games played between the teams at the West Hants Sports Complex in the 21-22 season.
