Houston overtime hero

Houston - hero for Scotians!

 
After getting thumped 8-2 in Membertou Saturday Night, the Pictou Scotians worked their overtime magic Sunday night in Trenton and for the third time this season including the regular season, the Scotians defeated the Jr. Miners in either overtime or a shoot-out, the latest coming via a Zach Houston Goal, 1:14 into overtime.  The teams went back and forth the entire game with Keegan Macumber giving the Scotians a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes.  Pictou jumped in front 3-2 after forty minutes as Jake Henderson and Matt Chediac connected for the Scotians while Josh MacKay and Alex MacKinnon replied for the Jr. Miners.  Ashton Paul scored a pair of goals in the third period including the tieing goal short-handed with 12:55 left, this after Hayden Burgess put the Scotians in front 4-3 4:47 into the third period.  After Paul’s short-handed marker, it was time for Houston’s magic in overtime on assist from Jake Henderson who recorded his 2nd assist of the night to go along with his goal.  Game 3 in this series goes back to Membertou Wednesday night at 7:30 before coming back to Trenton Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.  Pictou outshot the Jr. Miners 47-31 in Game 2 of the series.

Saturday night’s opener was no where as close as the Jr. Miners took period leads of 2-1 and 5-2.  Josh MacKay scoped three times for the winners with one in the first period and back-to-back goals in the second.  Andrew McCarron continued his impressive play with the Jr. Miners scoring twice while also recording an assist with Josh MacKay, Dylan MacDonald, and Coby McCaron adding singles. Matt Carson and Matt Chediac replied for the Scotians.  The Jr. Miners outshot the Scotians 40-35 and received a big night from Blake Cox who collected 4 assists.
