Liverpool bumps off Sackville

The Liverpool Privateers got their 2022-2023 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Regular Season off with a bang before a home audience Saturday night in Liverpool as they bounced the Sackville Blazers 5-2.  The Privateers struck quick and early and were up 4-1 after twenty minutes thanks to a pair of goals from Brayden Aucoin and single markers from last year’s rookie of the year Daniel Kline and Carson Gallant.  Veteran Jude Greenwood scored Liverpool’s final goal in the final period.  Ryan MacDonald tallied in the opening period for the Blazers and Daniel Surette in the third period.  Riley Hurlburt and Chris Meredith each collected two assists for the Privateers.  Liverpool outshot Sackville 45-31 and will play a pair of road games this weekend in Windsor Friday night against the Valley Maple Leafs at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoon in Brookfield against the Elks.

The Jr. Miners after having a pair of games ppd. due to Fiona finally got their season underway Saturday evening doubling up the Cumberland County Blues 4-2.  The Jr. Miners led 2-0 and 4-0 after the first and second periods before the Blues Ezekiel Cormier struck for a pair for the Blues in the third.  The Jr. Miners outshot the Blues 26-24.  Landon Clark had a pair of goals for the Jr. Miners while Riley Crane and Alexander Chenhall tallied singles.  Dylan MacDonald and Nathaniel Fuller both chipped in with a pair of assists for the Jr. Miners.
