Three Stars of the week Named for Opening Week
The opening week of the 2022-23 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Season is now complete and this hear besides players of the month, the League will also be selecting three stars of the week. So here goes, the NSJHL’S Three Stars of the week for Sept 30-Oct 3.
1. Brookfield Goaltender — Pablo De Larrinaga - he stopped 88 of 97 shots in leading the Elks to a split in their 2 games opening week. Their first game was 6-5 overtime win over the East Hants Penguins Sept 30 in Lantz and played stellar again as the Elks almost rallied from a 4-1 deficit in the third period in Sackville on Oct 3 before losing 4-3.
2. East Hants Forward - Marshall Plandowski — The Left Shooting forward left no one questioning his scoring abilities in Week 1. In the 6-5 overtime loss to the Elks, he recorded 3 assists and in Sunday evening’s 12-2 thrashing of the Valley Maple Leafs, he scored three times and added two assists giving him 3 goals and five assists in the 2 games fo eight points.
3. Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates - Matthew Ellis — He played only one game but it was all the scoring required by his team as the Strait Pirates would require as he netted 4 goals in a 7-1 win over the Cumberland County Blues
