Howie 4 pts for Liverpool including natural hat trick
The Liverpool Privateers dominated play in the offensive zone Friday evening in Windsor at the West Hants Sportsplex and it resulted in a 4-0 shut-out win over the Valley Maple Leafs who fell to 0-3-0 on the season. The Privateers outshot the Leafs 60-37 including 29-12 in the second period when they scored three of their four goals. Alec Howie had the hot hand as he scored a natural hat-trick in the second with three consecutive goals. while also assisting on the other Liverpool goal. Howie’s first coming on a bang-bang play in front of the Leafs net. His second came on a stupendous pass from Kevin MacDonald behind the Leafs net where Howie picked it up alone just in over the blue-line and let a wrist shot go which Aidan Durnford appeared to have trouble seeing as it slipped by without Durnford touching the puck. Howie’s third goal of the period came short-handed on a crisp passing play with Daniel LeBlanc assisting Howie as he rifled home his third of the evening. With 8:59 to play in the first and players crawling all over each other Ethan LeBlanc picked up a loose puck and put the Privateers up 1-0. The Privateers had a couple of other chances in the opening frame when Captain Daniel Kline, the League’s Rookie of the year in 21-22 had a wide open shot from the Leafs left handed face-off circle but he failed to connect. Blake Chasse and Daniel LeBlanc also missed on a great 2 on1 passing play as LeBlanc could not finish a play missing the very low right hand corner. Dawson Lavers of the Leafs on a 3/4 break-away got a shot away but could not get it past Zach Nauss who recorded the shut-out for the Privateers. Veteran Jude Greenwood rang one off the post as well for the Privateers. Blake Chasse before he got into penalty difficulties and ended up collecting 23 minutes on he night handed out the best hip check of the night as he caught the Leafs Kayden Kuryluk coming down the ice and a great hip check sidelined Kuryluk into the boards and out of the play. Howie’s third goal came with the Privateers down one player due to a penalty but also in the second, Liverpool had to play two men-short for 14 seconds. Liverpool were hoping to go 3-0-0 on the season when they played the Elks in Brookfield Saturday afternoon while the Maple Leafs who have scored only three goals while allowing twenty in three games, will attempt to recoup this week and prepare for the Elks as they travel to Windsor Friday, Oct 14 for a 7:30 game.
