Privateers now 4-0-0

Liverpool Privateers  3      Brookfield Elks  2

 
The Liverpool Privateers won their fourth straight game of the season and in the process defeated the Brookfield Elks 3-2 for a second consecutive Saturday.  This win over the Elks coming on home ice at the Queens Place Emera Centre.  The Elks fell to 3-3-0.  In their 6 games, five have been decided by 1 goal with the sixth by two goals.  The Elks were just coming off a 3-2 win over the Valley Maple Leafs in Windsor before the travelled to Liverpool Saturday evening.  Liverpool jumped in front 2-0 on goals from John John Shubaly and Brayden Aucoin in the opening period.  The Elks Luke MacDonald made the game a 2-1 affair before the conclusion of the first period.
 
In the second, Ben Fraser scored a short-handed marker to knot the game at 2-2 and it took Aucoin’s second goal of the game with under five minutes to play to give Liverpool the win.  The Elks outshot Liverpool 43-31 in the contest.  The 4-0-0 Privateers now head to Sackville Monday night for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Sackville Blazers who are off to a sluggish 1-2-1 start.
 
Capstone Colts   4       Valley Maple Leafs   0
 
The Leafs fell to 0-5-0 and continue to struggle to score goals as they were blanked by the Capstone Colts 4-0 at C.F.B. Shearwater.  The Colts are now 3-1-0 and moved into a second place tie with the Brookfield Elks in the Fred Fox Division.  The Colts defines is playing strong having only allowed 9 goals in the four games.  It is the Leafs offence which needs work as they have scored only five goals in five games while allowing 27.  Stephen Warwick scored the game winner for the Colts 11:24 into the second and then Tyler and Cooper Puma and Trayner McCulloch on the power-play scored unanswered goals for the Colts in the third.  The Colts outshot the Leafs 43-33.
 
Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs  7   Membertou Jr. Miners  6
 
It was a wild-scoring affair in Membertou as the defending Provincial Champions went up 5-2, fell behind 6-5 before scoring two unanswered goals in third by Ethan Twolan and Chris Keyes to win the game 7-6.  Will Fitzsimmons, Matthew Bercovici and Noah Harrison  notched first period markers for Antigonish while Blake Cox and Nathaniel Fuller replied for the Jr. Miners.  In the second period, Chris Keyes with his first of the game and Noah Harrison made it 5-2 Bulldogs before the Jr, Miners started to click and in a span of 6:51 had taken a 6-5 lead on Fuller’s second and third of the night, Blake Cox’s 2nd goal of the game and Liam Burke’s power-play.  The Jr. Miners did outshoot Antigonish 48-41.  The loss left the Jr. Miners at 1-3-0 while it was Antigonish’s first win of the season against one loss.
