Penguins yet to lose in regulation - now 4-0-2

The Privateers after a 4-0-0 start have now lost two in a row as a result of their 4-3 defeat in Lantz to the East Hants Penguins Friday night.  The Pens improved to 4-0-2 for ten points while the Privateers are jammed in a three-way tie with the Capstone Colts and Brookfield Elks for second place with eight points.  The Pens and Liverpool were tied 1-1 and then 2-2 after the opening two periods.  Josh Chisholm and Brody Fraser’s power-play goal were the Penguin goals while Daniel Kline and Joe Osborne tallied for the Privateers.  The third period just got underway and 1:35 in, Devin Meagher put the Pens up 3-2 and Morgan Lake scored the game winner with slightly less than eight minutes to play.  The Privateers final goal was a short-handed effort by Daniel Kline who registered his second of the game, 19 seconds after Lake’s game winner.  Chisholm besides his goal for the Pens also collected an assist for the Pens who outshot their visitors 35-30.  Elsewhere Friday night:

Sackville Blazers  7    Valley Maple Leafs  5

It was by far the best performance put forward by the 0-6-0 Valley Maple Leafs but it still wasn’t enough to give them their first win of the season as they lost their sixth consecutive game to the Sackville Blazers.  The Leafs struck early and played a strong first period with Ben McCarthy and Nick Oickle putting the Leafs up 2-0 on goals 21 seconds apart.  Carter Graves who also collected a pair of assists made it 3-0 for the Leafs before Degen Noble scored his first of two on the evening to make it 3-1 Maple Leafs.  With just 2:01 remaining in the first period, Noelan Spink made it 4-1 Maple Leafs.  It was looking promising for the Leafs but in a span of 1:01 before the second period was three minutes old Ryan MacDonald scored the first of his two goals and Noble added his second and suddenly the Leafs lead had shrunk to a goal before Brady MacLean scored for the Leafs to put them up 5-3 going into the third.  The roof collapsed in the third for the Valley as Ryan MacIntyre, MacDonald with his second, Zachary Jenkins who played an exceptional game for the Blazers and Jack Meek all scored unanswered goals to give the Blazers a 7-5 win.  Sackville outshot the Valley 58-51.
