Jr. Eagles lose their first in Regulation

The Pictou County Scotians in their second game of a home and home with the Membertou Jr. Miners on Sunday in Trenton defeated the Jr. Miners 5-1 and with that improved their regular season record to 5-1-0 for 10 points, 1 back of the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles.  Brady Doucette scored the Jr. Miners goal in the first period but three by the Scotians in the second and two more in the third was all that was required for the win by the Scotians who were coming off a 6-5 loss in Membertou Saturday night.  Luke Youn, Matt Carson, and Nat Supryka all scored once and added an assist for the Scotians with Thomas Kennaley and Ryan Frizzle picking up the other Pictou County goals.  The Jr. Miners did outshoot the Scotians 39-30 but with the loss fell to 2-5-0 on the season and sole position of fifth place in the Sid Rowe Division.  Elsewhere Sunday:

The Eskasoni Jr. Eagles suffered their first loss in regulation at home Sunday afternoon as they were clobbered by the Antigonish AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs 11-2.  It dropped the Jr. Eagles record to 5-1-1, one point ahead of the Scotians.  Antigonish led 3-2 after one period but after that it was all Bulldogs as they scored eight consecutive goals.  The Eagles despite some superlative goaltending this season by Hunter Chenhall simply couldn’t get it Sunday as they were only outshot 26-19 by the Bulldogs.  Sam Grant, Matthew Bercovici and Ethan Twolan recorded goals in the first for the Bulldogs while Sonny Kabatay and Dante Basque replied for the Jr. Eagles.  Grant later scored his second goal of the game to go along with an assist while Twolan and Will Fitzsimmons both recorded a pair of assists with their goals.  Other Bulldog Marksmen were Ray MacKinnon and Will Mierau each with a pair and Owen Flemming and Sam MacNeill with single markers.
