Eskasoni opens 1st Place Lead on Pictou

The Eskasoni Jr. Eagles are doing everything humanely possible at the present time to stay in first place in the Sid Rowe Division of the NSJHL.  With 9 games played and 21 to go, the Jr. Eagles are 7-1-1 for 15 points, 5 ahead of the 5-3-0 Pictou County Scotians who Eskasoni beat in Trenton Sunday night 5-3.  A total of 106 Penalty minutes were called which resulted in numerous power-play opportunities, in fact 5 of the 8 goals scored were on the power play.  Cal Maxner and Matt Carson both scored on the power-play after Sonny Kabatay opened the game’s scoring for the Eagles to give Pictou a 2-1 lead after the first.  Kabatay scored three times to give him 11 goals on the season and in a tie with Alec Howie of the Liverpool Privateers for the League Goal Scoring Lead.  Marcellus Francis collected 3 assists and is atop the League Points Board with 10 goals and 12 assists.  Dante Basque scored the other two Eagle goals.  Jack Tompkins scored the other Scotians goal in the third.
