Eskasoni takes 3 point lead for first
The Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs went to Eskasoni Sunday evening with hopes of taking over first place in the Sid Rowe Division but that did not happen as Dante Basque scored with 1:30 left in regulation time to give the Jr. Eagles a 4-3 win and a 3 point lead over the Jr. Bulldogs and Scotians for first place. Sonny Kabatay scored his 13th and 14th goals of the season to go along with 19 assists to give him 33 points and the continued League scoring lead. Jacob Denny added the other Jr. Eagles goal. Bradley Armstrong, Will Mierau and Logan McGrath connected for the 8-3-0 Bulldogs while Eskasoni stands at 9-2-1. These two clubs have now played four of their six regular season games and they have split the 4 with the Jr. Bulldogs outscoring Eskasoni 18-11.
In the only other game Sunday night, the 6-8-0 Membertou Jr. Miners completed a weekend sweep of their home and home series with the now 8-5-0 Pictou County Scotians. Sunday night Coby McCarron and Blake Cox both scored a pair to pace the Jr. Miners to a 7-3 win. Nathaniel Fuller, Drew Baldwin and Bailey MacDonald added singles for Membertou while Luke Young, Matt Carson nd Joseph Mason tallied for the Scotians.
