The Liverpool Privateers and their coaching staff are still determined to put a solid 60 minutes of hockey together but heads were left scratching Wednesday night at C.F.B. Halifax in Shearwater as the Privateers led the Colts 2-1 after forty minutes but allowed the Colts four goals in the third including a short-handed and power-play markers to fall 5-2.  The Privateers since opening the season 4-0-0, have now gone 4-9-2 in their past 15 games but remain locked in a knock-em-dead playoff race with Sackville and Brookfield.  The Privateers currently trail the Elks by 2 points and the Blazers by three points for the final two playoff positions in the Fred Fix Division.  They will play Sackville twice in the next 5 days, Saturday in Liverpool and Monday night in Sackville.  As for Wednesday’s game, the teams were scoreless after the opening period before Alec Howie and Carson Gallant scored in the second with Tyler Puma of the Colts scoring in between the Liverpool goals to give the Privateers that 2-1 lead after the middle period.  In the final period, Brayden Hooper-Richard scored short-handed just 2:06 into the third.  Hunter Canning notched a power-play marker with under five minutes left in regulation, his goal coming after Cody Garcin had notched what proved to be the game winner with 11:15 to play.  The Colts final goal came when Liam Andrew put one into an empty net.  The Privateers outshot the Colts 36-29 and are now 1-2-1 against the Colts so far in this 22-23 season.  Capstone has won 5-1 and 5-2 and another game went to a shoot-out before the Colts won 5-4.  The Privateers have won one of the four games between the two clubs 4-3 in overtime.  These clubs have 2 games left between them in the regular season, both of them coming up in Liverpool on Sat Feb 5 and Sat Feb 25.
