Jr. Bulldogs win their 20th of season

The Eskasoni Jr. Eagles are having difficulty catching the Antigonish AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs for 1st place in the Sid Rowe Division while a critical penalty in the dying stages of regulation hurts the Privateers.  Here is a Sunday recap of NSJHL Action:

The Jr. Bulldogs tallied a pair of third period goals to outlast the Pictou County Scotians and secure their second win of the weekend over Pictou.  Thomas Kennalley put the Scotians up 1-0 after twenty minutes and then Jack Tompkins put the Scotians up 2-1 in the second between Bulldog goals from Will Mierau and Zachary Lorette.  Luke Baldwin and Nick Marshall scored for Antigonish in the third period while the Scotians were held off the scoreboard and saw their record fall to 10-10-2 while the Jr. Bulldogs are now 20-3-1 for 41 points.  Owen Flemming and Ben McLellan both collected a pair of assists for the Jr. Bulldogs.
 
 
Capstone Colts   3     Liverpool   2
 
Liverpool’s Kyle Hopkins aggressive play resulted in a five minute major for slashing being assessed against him with only 3:36 to play in regulation Sunday evening in Liverpool.  Until this point the Privateers led the Colts 2-1 but in the game’s final 1:30, disaster struck for the Privateers as Tyler Puma scored with 1:30 remaining in regulation to tie the game at 2-2 and then with only 3 seconds left in regulation Will MacRae scored to give the Colts their 18th win of the season and a 3-2 win.  The win for the Colts enabled them to move back into sole position of first place over East Hants by two points while holding a game in hand on the Penguins.

The County Blues for a third straight game in Cape Breton were defeated by an 80-4 score, this time in Eskasoni as the Jr. Eagles improved to 18-4-1.  Sonny Kabatay continued his dominant offensive presence on the ice scoring three times and collecting two assists giving him 34 goals and 38 assists for 72 points and the League Lead in points by a country mile.  Dante Basque scored a pair for Eskasoni with singles going to Jacob Wolodka, Kendall MacQueen and Bryce MacKenzie.  For the Blues, Brandon Forbes, Burke Beed and Callum Mccllelan all scored single markers.  Marcellus Francis contributed four assists for the Jr. Eagles. who outshot the Blues 35-22.
