Colts conclude reg season with OT win
The Capstone Colts despite clinching 1st in Fox Friday evening kept rolling to win their 24th in 30 games in Liverpool while Elks eliminated from payoffs Friday because of Sackville win still sidelined East Hants 4-2…..Eskasoni also doubled up Pictou 3-1 on Saturday:

It was a heart-stopper all the way as the Colts Cooper Puma tallied with 2:12 left in the five-minute sudden death regulation to give the Colts their 24th win in 30 regular season games. Liverpool concluded the season at 14-12-4. The teams battled to a 1-1 draw after the first period with Malcom Bussey scoring only 56 seconds into the contest for Liverpool to give them an early 1-0 lead. Riley Henman tied it at 1-1 for the Colts before the conclusion of the opening period. The Colts on a marker from Cole Good in the second took a 2-1 lead into the third before Malcom Bussey this time scored 18 seconds into the final period of regulation to knot the contest 2-2. This is the way the game stayed until overtime when Puma scored on the power-play for the Colts with 2:12 remaining in the five-minute overtime to give the Colts a 3-2 win. It was unfortunate as Malcom Bussey who had scored both Privateer goals was sitting in the penalty box after being assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty with 3:55 to play in the overtime putting the Colts on the power-play. The Colts outshot the Privateers 43-31.
Brookfield 4 East Hants 2
The Brookfield Elks knew a playoff berth was not viable going into their final game of the season after Sackville’s hard fought 3-1 win over the Maaple Leafs Friday night. It did not stop the Elks from going out in style as they defeated the East Hants Penguins 4-2 despite being outshot 47-45. Devin Meagher and Morgan Lake put the Pens in front 2-0 after one period but the Elks did not let it stop them as they scored three unanswered goals in the second from Noah Latimer, Sam Rogers who also finished with an assist and Keegan Macumber who tallied with 6 seconds left in the middle period to put the Elks in front 3-2. Sam MacNeil then scored an empty netters with 23 seconds remaining to give the Elks a 4-2 win. The Elks and Sackville both finished 14-13-3 but based on the League’s tie-breakers, Sackville won the fourth playoff spot having defeated the Elks in their 6 game regular season schedule with the Blazers going 4-2-0 and the Elks 2-2-2. It literally could have gone either way as five of the six games between the Blazers and Elks were decided by a single goal. If nothing else, as a result of this tie-breaker, it proved a win and even a goal means as much as in September as it does in January.
Eskasoni 3 Pictou 1
The loss prevented the Scotians from clinching 3rd place overall but the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates will need a loaded offence if they are to sneak by the Scotians and into third place with a win Sunday evening in Pictou.
First the game, the Jr. Eagles on goals from Kendall MacQueen and Jacob Denny’s power play marker put the Jr. Eagles up 2-0 after forty minutes. Trey Sturge made it 3-0 Eagles in the third before Jayden Hatchers on a short-handed effort provided the Scotians with their only goal of the game. Pictou outshot the Eagles 40-27.
As for 3rd place in the Rowe, the Scotians have defeated the Strait Pirates 3 times out of five so far in 22-23. The only way Port Hawkesbury could ever clinch third place tonight is if they were to defeat the Scotians by 9 goals as Pictou in their previous five games have outscored the Strait Pirates 25-17.
