Series Preview - Colts and Blazers
Capstone - Sackville Playoff Preview
The Colts who finished the regular season after a hard fought battle with the East Hants Penguins in first place in the Fred Fox Division face-off in Game 1 of their Best-of-Seven Fox Divisional Semi-Final tonight in Sackville at 7:30 p.m. The season series saw the Colts win five of the six regular season games against the Blazers, with the Blazers only win coming in a solid 4-1 victory a week ago tonight when the Blazers played almost perfect hockey in securing the win. Until that point, the Blazers had lost to the Colts by scores of 5-0, 8-1, 5-3, 4-2 and 5-2 while outscoring the Blazers in the six games 28-12. In the six games this season, the teams drew a combined 114 minutes of penalties which is worth noting as some teams drew that in one period this winter. With the penalty minutes, special teams did not play a significant role as the Blazers scored 5 power-play goals and the Colts 4 power-play goals. Neither team had a short-handed goal in the six games. Game 1 goes in Sackville tonight at 7:30 with Games 2 and 3 back in Shearwater Friday March 3 and Saturday March 4 before going back to Sackville for Game 4 Monday March 6. The Colts have been involved in some great playoff action over the years as have the Blazers but with the Colts finishing with a 24-5-1 record for the regular season and their season series with Sackville, but we all know it is playoff hockey and things can change in a flash. Sackville has been to the Don Johnson Cup several times in their 40 year history, the Colts with few selected visits so under the guidance of Head Coach Justin Boone, they are aiming for a spot in the Don Johnson Memorial Cup in Liverpool starting the last week of April.
