Armstrong nets game winner
In a tight-checking and low scoring affair in Antigonish Wednesday night, the AA Munro Jr. Bulldogs were still able to squeak out a 3-2 win over the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their Sid Rowe Divisional Semi-Final. Bradley Armstrong’s goal for the Bulldogs with only 2:14 remaining provided the Jr. Bulldogs with their game winner. The teams were scoreless after one period and tied 1-1 after forty minutes as Dave Matthews opened the game’s scoring for the Pirates on the power-play before Connor Doherty replied with a short-handed goal for Antigonish with under four minutes to play in the second. In the third, Will Fitzsimmons on another power-play put the Bulldogs up 2-1 before Cadyn Power tied it for the Strait prior to Armstrong’s game winner. Antigonish held a 28-27 shots advantage. The series now goes back to the Strait for a 7:30 start Friday evening and it will be a do or die game for Port Hawkesbury as a win will be mandatory for their season to continue or the Bulldogs will advance to the Rowe Divisional Final against the Pictou-Eskasoni winner with game 4 in that series slated for Thursday evening in Trenton at 6:20 p.m.
