Garcin scores in OT to force 7th game

As of this writing late Saturday afternoon, there are only 2 hours and 24 minutes remaining prior to the opening face-off of the seventh and deciding game of the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Championship Series.  Game 7 goes Saturday night in Antigonish at 7:30 p.m. after the Colts staved off elimination with a 3-2 overtime win at the Dartmouth Sportsplex Friday evening.  With only 52 seconds remaining in the initial ten-minute overtime, Cody Garcin who is having a prolific series scored the game winner to send the series back to Antigonish tonight.  Cody MacVicar had another stellar night in nets as he turned away 43 of 45 Antigonish shots.  The teams were tied 1-1 after twenty minutes and 2-2 after both the second and third periods.  In the first, Liam Andrews tallied a short-handed marker for the Colts with 4:29 to play before Will Fitzsimmons tied it 1-1 with 2:28 remaining in the first.

 
In the second period, Will Mierau put the bulldogs up 2-1 before the period was five minutes old but Stephen Warwick’s goal with 3:37 left in the second knotted the game at 2-2 and that was all the scoring until Garcin’s overtime winner.  With the win, the Colts have roared back to tie the series at 3-3 after falling behind d 3-1.  It was the first overtime game of the series.  The winner of tonight’s game will have 72 hours off before opening the Don Johnson Memorial Cup against the Liverpool Privateers Tuesday night at the Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool at 7:30 p.m.  The Jr. Bulldogs will be looking to play in their second consecutive Don Johnson Cup by winning the Nova Scotia Junior Championship tonight at home.
