Antigonish registers 2nd straight SO

The Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs have now stretched their shut-out streak to 152.44 after a 6-0 rout of the Brookfield Elks in Antigonish Sunday night.  The Jr.Bulldogs scored a pair of goals in each period with Zachary Lorette and Will Mierau connecting in the first.  Will Normandeau and Zachary Lorette made it 4-0 Bulldogs after forty minutes before Lorette with his second of the evening and Owen Juurlink completed the scoring fir the now 5-0-0 Jr. Bulldogs.  It marked the second time this weekend that the Jr. Bulldogs had a shut-out win as they blanked the Valley Maple Leafs 3-0 in Windsor Friday Night.  Adam Tkacz recoded both shut-outs for the Bulldogs and now has 4-0-0 record on the season stopping 116 of 121 shots he faced.  He has a 1.25 Goals Against Average and a .959 save percentage.

One other game Sunday evening in the NSJHL.  Despite outshooting the Pictou County Scotians 50-25, the scotians hung for a 5-4 win behind the sensational goaltending of Branden Connors as he stopped 46 of 50 sots he faced.  The Scotians held period leads of 4-1 and 4-1 with the game’s first five goals all being scored in the first period with Cale McLaughlin scoring the Scotians first two goals before Ryan Frizzle added a third for Pictou.  Brennan Coleman then scored for the Lumberjacks before Cal Marner added a fourth as the period was completed with Pictou up 4-1.  There was no scoring in the second but in the third, the Scotians Jack Tompkins scored what proved to be the game winner for Pictou as he made it 5-1 Scotians.  Nate Supryka added three assist for the Scotians.  South Shore then fought stubbornly t get back in the game with Daniel Kline, Benjamin Coleman and Noah Salgueiro then scored for the Lumberjacks to make the final 5-4.  The Scotians improved to 3-2-0 on the season while the South Shore lost their third game in four starts.
