Penguins now lead Colts by 4 points

East Hants after losing to Antigonish Friday evening were back in high gear Sunday evening as they trounced the Pictou County Scotians 7-2 in Pictou, extending the Scotians losing streak to 3 games.  Along with Port Hawkesbury’s win over Eskasoni, the Pirates and Scotians are now tied for 2nd place in the Sid Rowe Division with identical 8-5-0 records for 16 points.   Jayson Hanson scored twice and added 3 assists for the Pens giving him five goals and ten assists and fourth place in the League Scoring Race.  Brody Fraser netted his 7th and 8th goals of the season while Devin Meagher scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season with a single marker recorded by Hayden Tamm.  Logan Durno collected 4 assists to give him 15 on the season and to go along with his 4 goals leads the league in scoring. Noah Comeau picked up 3 assists as well.  Will Shields stopped 42 of 44 shots in the Penguin nets.  Cale McLaughlin and Nate Supryka tallied for the Scotians who were outshot 55-44 by the winners.

Jacob Wolodka scored in the first period for the Jr. Eagles but it would be only one of two goals all evening for the Jr. Eagles who fell to 4-5-0 in their 7-2 loss to the Strait Pirates.  Cole Stevens scored the other Eskasoni goal.  For the Pirates, Landon MacIntosh scored a pair with Sam Beaton, Blake MacDonnell, Danny Gillis, Jack Taylor and Callum MacLellan adding single goals.  Isaac Sparrow turned away 28 of the 30 shots he faced in the Strait nets.  After falling behind 1-0 after twenty minutes, the Strait Pirates jumped in front 4-1 after two periods and went onto victory for their 8th win of the season.
