Strait-Elks chosen as Game of the week

Before Week 7 begins in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League tonight on 3 fronts across the province, this writer faced to mentioned the “The Game of the Week" selection for Oct 20-26.

 
Without question the The Game of the Week belongs to the Brookfield Elks and Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates in which the Strait Pirates won 3-2 in overtime Friday, Oct 20 at home.  This game went end to end the entire game with the Strait leading 1-0 after twenty minutes before the Elks tied it in the second before the teams exchanged goals in the third to then go into overtime tied 2-2. Landon MacIntosh finally scored the winner with 4:43 having been played in overtime to give the Strait their exciting 3-2 OT win.
 
As for play beginning Week 7 in the NJHL, there are three games on tap Friday night with the 4-4-0 Lumberjacks playing the 8-0-2 Capstone Colts at C.F.B. Shearwater starting at 7:30 p.m.  The Colts hold two games in hand on the Lumberjacks but the South Shore has another game scheduled for Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in Eskasoni.
As for the Colts besides their game with the Lumberjacks at home tonight in Shearwater while two other games feature the 12-0-0 Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs playing the 8-5-0 Port Hawkesbury and the Pictou County Scotinans completing a home and away with the East Hants Penguins.  The Penguins won last Sunday 7-2 in Pictou.  Tonight game at Sportsplex in Lantz will be at 7:30 p.m.
 
The other 2 Saturday games will have the Membertou Jr. Miners hosting Brookfield at 7:30 p.m. and the South Shore Lumberjacks visiting the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
