Blazers win fourth in a row
The Sackville Blazers are not the least bit interested in going down to the second to final game of the regular season to clinch a playoff spot in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, such as was the case in 2022-23. If this season to date is any indication, the Blazers have drive control in the proper position and are now 6-2-2 after ten games, trailing the Capstone Colts by 6 points and the East Hants Penguins by eight points and sit in third place in the Fred Fox Divisional Standings. Monday night at home was huge as they recorded their fourth consecutive victory, this one a 5-2 win over the Capstone Colts. Justin Hardie of the Blazers and Owen McDermid of the Colts had the teams tied at 1-1 after the first period while Duggan Gauthier put the Blazer s up 2-1 after forty minutes. It was all Sackville in the third period as the Blazers scored three unanswered goals from Noah Sutherland, Will Meek and Keegan McDermid before Liam Andrews finished the game’s scoring for the Colts with a short-handed goal. For the Colts who are now 9-1-2, it was their first regulation loss of the season. Sackville will try and make it five in a row as they travel to Windsor Friday evening at 7:30 for a fixture with the 3-6-0 Valley Maple Leafs at 7:30 at the West Hants Sports Complex.
