Difficult to choose Game of week Oct 25-Nov 1
League Officials had a very difficult choice in selecting the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Game of the week between Oct 25-Nov 1. Three games were in the running and they were the South Shore Lumberjacks getting by Eskasoni 5-4, the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates handing the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs their first loss of the season and the Capstone Colts defeating the South Shore Lumberjacks 3-2 in overtime. By reading this, you will be able to tell it was not an easy choice and it finally came down to a tie for the Game of the Week between the Colts and Lumberjcks and Strait Pirates and Jr. Bulldogs, with the Lumberjacks and Eskasoni just missing.
In Shearwater Friday night, the Colts pulled out a 3-2 win in overtime thanks to a sudden-death goal by Benjamin Veinot. The teams fought it out hard all night long with the Colts leading 1-0 after the first, the Lumberjacks tying it at 1-1 in the second before both clubs traded goals in the third.
It was just as close in Port Hawkesbury with the Jr. Bulldogs holding period leads of 2-0 and 3-2 before the Strait Pirates struck for a pair of goals in the third to win it 4-3 with Cadyn Power scoring the winner for the Pirates. It markd the Jr. Bulldogs first loss of the season after winning their first 12.
