After a nearly three week Holiday break, the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League swings back into gear with a full slate of weekend games Friday Jan 5, Saturday Jan 6th and Sunday Jan 7th.

With the regular-season wrapping up the last week of February, games become extra critical for all teams chasing playoff spots in the 32 game regular season.

At C.F.B. Shearwater Friday evening, the Brookfield Elks will be play one of two weekend games in which they will need all players playing hockey like they never have before as they fight for their playoff lives.  The Elks carry a 6-10-1 mark into Shearwater to play the second place 15-4-1 Capstone Colts in a 7:30 start.  The Colts presently trail the 1st place East Hants Penguins by four points with a game in hand.  The Elks are in fifth place in the Fred Fox Division, ten points back of fourth place Sackville with the Elks holding two games in hand on the Blazers.  The Elks also are only one point ahead of the last place Valley Maple Leafs.
