Lumberjacks win their 8th straight
What more can you say about the South Shore Lumberjacks at this point other than they are a scoring machine, taking no mercy on any team and having won eight consecutive games. Their last loss coming back on Nov 11 3-2 to the Pictou County Scotians.
Their 8th win in a row came Saturday evening at home in Bridgewater as they trounced the Valley Maple Leafs 11-3. The Lumberjacks came out strong early and never looked back taking period leads of 4-1 and 10-3 while outshooting the Maple Leafs 43-27. Alec Howie and Brennan Coleman both scored three times for the Lumberjacks, with Howie also adding 3 assists and Coleman 1 assist. Single goal scorers were John Shubaly who also added three assists, Daniel Kline with his goal and two assists took over the League Scoring Race with 30 points with 13 goals and 17 assists. He is two points up on Logan Durno and teammate Brennan Coleman who now has 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points. Howie with his 6 point night has 11 goals and 15 assists for 25 points and just five back of Kline while Aaron Lane collected four assists giving him five goals and 17 assists for 22 points, eight behind Kline. Other South Shore goal scorers were Joe Osborne, Elijah Leinwand and Aidan Fisher.
The win now gives South Shore a record of 16-4-1 for 33 points, two back of the Capstone Colts and East Hants Penguins who are both 17-4-1 for 35 points.
For the Maple Leafs Nick Goodwin, Ben McCarthy and Reese Smith all scored singles while Connor Deluney added two assists. The Leafs fell to 6-15-0. South Shore will be back in action Saturday, Jan 20 at home to the Sackville Blazers. The Blazers meanwhile face-off against the East Hants Penguins Monday night in Sackville at 7:30 p.m.
