Bulldogs cough up a 4-0 lead
It appeared Sunday evening in Trenton as if the potent Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs were on their way to their 22nd regular season win in 24 games. This was after the Bulldogs staked themselves to a 4-0 lead over the Pictou County Scotians well into the second period. However, never say die and the Scotians were obviously not going away until the bitter end as they rallied to tie the game at 5-5 before Thomas Kennaley scored the shoot-out winner giving Pictou a 6-5 win. Cale MacLaughlin knotted the game at 5-5 with 9:37 left in regulation while Ryan Frizzle and Matt Carson netted goals 35 seconds apart early in the third to pull the Scotians to within 4-3. Jack Tompkins who also had 2 assists on the night tied the game at 4-4 before the Bulldogs went in front 5-4 thanks to a goal from Brodie MacDonald. Will Mierau tallied the Scotians other marker. Other Antigonish scorers were Owen Juurlink who also netted a pair of assists, Logan McGrath, Owen Forsythe and Ethan Twolan. Pictou outshot Antigonish 36-34. While the Bulldogs are now 21-1-2, the victory was critical for the Scotians who have only 7 regular season games remaining and are now 3 points in front of the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Sid Rowe Division.
