Elks even more frustrated after latest loss to Jacks

The Brookfield Elks, granted are only 7-16-2 on the season but have proven when no one is suspecting they can't put up a decent game and surprise some of the top teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League during the 23-24 regular season.  However, one team they can't seem to figue out is the South Shore Lumberjacks as the Lumberjacks throttled the Elks in Bridgewater Saturday night 9-1.  The Elks have lost all three games to the South Shore this season by scores of 7-2, 10-2 and Satrday's 9-1 loss meaning the Lumberjacks have outscored the Elks 26-5 in three games.  With the Lumberjacks involved in such a classic battle for first place with the Colts and East Hants, the Elks are only hoping they can prove to be spoilers when the two teams meet for the final time this season Feb 20 in Brookfield at 7:30 p.m.  The win for the Lumberjacks moved them back to within two points of first place in the Fred Fox Division with a 20-6-1 record for 41 points compared to the Colts and Penguins 43 points apiece.

In Saturday's game in Bridgewater, the Lumberjacks took 2-0 and 6-1 period leads and never looked back.  Cohen Westlake scored three times and added an assist to give him 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points, 4 out of the League Points Race.  Brennan Coleman notched a goal and helped out with three others to give him 14 goals and 19 asssists for 33 points.  Joe Osborne contributed a pair of goals and added an assist.  Other single markers went to Aaron Lane, John Shubably and Owen Cleary.  Alec Howie contributed 3 asssists giving him 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points.  South Shore outshot the Elks 48-23.
