Lumberjacks have clinched 2nd place in Fox
The Standings presently show the East Hants Penguins with a chance to tie the South Shore Lumberjacks for 2nd place in the Fred Fox Division. This could happen with a Lumberjacks loss at home tonight to the Capstone Colts who have already wrapped up first place and a Penguins win over Brookfield on Monday night. If this happened, it would give both the Penguins and South Shore with 47 points.
However when you look at the League tie-breaking rules, the Lumberjacks have second already clinched due to their regular season series with the Penguins in which they defeated East Hants all four times they met by scores of 5-3, 4-1, 5-2 and 6-4. In fact the losses were four of th eight suffered by the Penguins in regulation during the 2023-24 regular season. The Lumberjacks also hold the second tie-breaker by a comfortable margin outscoring the Pens 20-10 in their four games.
A schedule for this Best-of-Seven Fred Fox Divisional Semi-Final has not been 100% determined but more than likely will open with back to back games Fri March 1 in Lantz and Saturday, March 2nd in Bridgewater.
