Boudreau sensational in Pens nets
The East Hants Penguins won their third consecutive game of the season in Nova Scotia Junior Play Monday night in Sackville. They continued to get outstanding goaltending from rookie Fintan Boudreau who finally lost his early season shut-out streak late in the second period after not having allowed a goal in his first 137 minutes and 42 seconds. The Penguins jumped in front 3 -0 after twenty minutes on goals from Noah Comeau, Logan Durno and Ryan Langlois. Chris Caissie with Sackville playing two men short made it 4-0 Penguins. The Pens could only get the one power-play marker despite the fact that Sackville drew five consecutive minors including four straight in the second period. Boudeau finally had a goal scored upon him with 2:18 to play in the second period as Tyler Curnew scored the first of his two goals on the night for the Blazers. Between Curnews’s two goals, Gavin Reeves scored the Blazers and they were suddenly back in the game and trailed only 4-3 but it was as far a they could go as Logan Durno scored his second of the night into an empty net with 17 seconds to play to make the final 5-3 Penguins. Boudreau’s goalie stats are amazing after three games as he has stopped 103 of 106 shots, has a goals against average of 1.00 and a save pct of .972. The Pens fourth game of the season will be back at home Friday Sept 27 at 7:30 against the Brookfield Elks.
