Scotians defeat Membertou
When the Pictou County Scotians and Membertou Jr. Miners play each other, fans are always in for a treat. For example, in their opening game this season, the Jr. Miners rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat the Scotians in overtime on home ice 5-4.
Sunday night in a change of scenery back in Pictou County, the Scotians no doubt still had thoughts of that game when they hit the ice. However, the Scotians took a 2-0 first period lead and never looked back to defeat the Jr. Miners 4-1. Lane Lochead and John Kay-Martin registered the Scotians first pair of goals before Jack Tompkins scored for the Scotians in the middle frame before Alex Chenhall for the Jr. Miners and Ryan Frizzle finished the game’s scoring in the third. Eli James stopped 28 of 29 shots in the Scotians net while Darren Mcinnes was kept substantially busier in the Membertou net turning away 45 of 49 shots. Elsewhere Sunday:

Logan Mitchell scored twice and added an assist for the winners with singles going to Adam Maillet and power-play markers being added by Lawson Cook and Matt Pluscauskas. For Lorette it gives him five goals on the season to go along with five assists while for Grant, it was his third of the season to go along with 7 helpers and the points have now created a co-lead between the pair for the League Scoring title. Other goal scorers for the Bulldogs who outshot Brookfield 50-15 were Daniel Chiasson, Venel Campbell, Owen Juurlink and Andrew Murray. Bryon Currie tallied for the Elks.
