McNamara and McKinnon named Egg Farmers Players of the Week
This writer will have to be forgiven due to illness once again as Nova Scotia Egg Farmers Player’s of the week were not published on our website for the week of Jan 16-21st. That does not mean no one was selected, it simply means they never got posted as they should have been. In saying this, the Nova Scotia Egg Farmers Players of the week for Jan 16-21 are:
Sid Rowe Division:
1. Will McKinnon had a monstrous week of offence as he led the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs to another pair of victories. McKinnon scored five times and assisted on two other goals as the Bulldogs defeated Membertou 9-2 and the Pictou County Scotians 7-4. Will earns two dozen eggs from NS Egg Farmers for his selection as Player of the Week in the Rowe Division.
2. Finishing second is Matt Carson of the Pictou County Scotians. Matt earns three points in the overall race for Player of the Month who wins five dozen eggs from the Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia. Matt scored twice and assisted on three other goals as the Scotians defeated Port Hawkesbury 3-1 while losing to Antigonish 7-4.
3. A tie exists for two players who finished third. They are Lane Lochead and Eli James of the Pictou County Scotians. Lochead had a goal and four assists as the Scotians went 1-1-0 while James was outstanding in nets turning away 34 of 35 shots in the Scotians 3-1 win over the Strait. Both players earn 1 point toward player of the month selection.
Fred Fox Division:
1. Connor McNamara is the Fred Fox Division Player of the Week for his 4 goals and 1 assist in the Pens 8-2 and 9-4 wins over the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles and Brookfield Elks. He also earns two dozen eggs from the Nova Scotia Egg Farmers.
2. Chris Caissie also from East Hants collected two goals and 4 assists in the Two Penguin wins and earns 3 points toward player of the Month selection in which one player will receive five dozen eggs from the Egg Farmers of Nova Scotia.
3. The third star of the week was exceptionally difficult but while not playing much this season, Goaltender Jackson Murphy of the Valley Maple Leafs played an outstanding game in a must-win situation for the Leafs as he turned away 48 of 50 shots in a 6-2 Leafs win and earns 1 point toward Player of the Month rankings for the League.
