Puma historic 9 point night for Colts
The Colts annihilated the Valley Maple Leafs in Shearwater Friday night in Nova Scotia Junior Hockey by a count of 16-5. It marked the Leafs fifth consecutive road game of a six-game trip that has seen them fall out of playoff contention going 1-3-1 to date.
Cooper Puma had a field day for the Colts Friday night as he scored three times and added 6 assists collecting nine points and jumping all the way into second place in the League scoring race, now trailing Lane Lochead by 5 points with the regular season concluding a week from Monday. Other big scorers for the Colts were Luke McPhee with three goals and two assists and Liam Andrews also with 3 goals and 2 assists. Cody Garcin scored twice and added an assist with single markers being scored by Matthew Jessome, Brady Wambolt, Riley Henman who also added a pair of assists, Camden McKenzie who scored once and added three assists and Benjamin Veinot who scored once ad assisted on another goal. The Colts were in command the entire game taking a 5-1 lead after the first period and an 11-3 lead after forty minutes while outshooting the Maple Leafs 51-36. The Colts are now 21-7-0 for 42 points, four back of the 23-4-0 East Hants Penguins. Scoring for the Maple Leafs were Dylan manning with a pair, Cameron Barnes, Nick Goodwin and Jaxson Welsh. Justin Banks collected three assists for the Leafs. East Hants will play in Bridgewater tonight and a Penguins win will guarantee them first place in the Fred Fox Division. The Maple Leafs conclude their lengthy road trip in Brookfield against the Elks in a 4:00 p.m. start. One other game tonight will see the Membertou Jr. Miners try to strengthen their hold on third place over Port Hawkesbury when they play Eskasoni at 7:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs improved to 23-4-0 after rallying for three goals in the third period to defeat Port Hawkesbury and prevent the Strait Pirates from moving into a 3rd place tie with the Membertou Jr. Miners. Antigonish staked themselves to a 2-0 lead in the first on goals from Logan McGrath and Cohen Pictou before Cohan Hickey replied on the power-play for the Pirates and it was 2-1 going into the second period. Colin Peryer tied it for the Strait at 2-2 after two periods before the Bulldogs outscored the Pirates 3-1 in the final period on Cohen Pictou’s second goal of the game while Daniel Chaisson and Zachary Lorette were he other Bulldog scorers. Leo MacLean scored the Strait’s only goal of the period. Antigonish outshot Pictou 42-22.
