An absolutely thrilling 2024-25 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League season concludes this weekend with the final 10 games of the 165 game regular season scheduled. The only two placings still up for grabs is third place in both the Rowe and Fox Divisions.
The Sackville Blazers with a game in hand on the South Shore Lumberjacks will play three times in four days as they attempt to clinch third place. Their present record after 27 games is 14-11-2 for 30 points while the South Shore Lumberjacks are 13-13-2 for 28 points in 28 games. The Blazers will play the Capstone Colts Friday night in Shearwater before going to Bridgewater to play the Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening. Depending on the verdict of the Blazers-Colts game Friday, Saturday’s game could be vitally pivotal as to who will clinch third place in the Fox.
In the Rowe Division, the Membertou Jr. Miners and Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates both have two games remaining with the Jr. Miners on the road in Brookfield Saturday afternoon and in Antigonish Sunday evening. The Strait meanwhile plays Eskasoni Saturday evening in Eskasoni while travelling to Pictou Sunday night for a 6:00 p.m. start. The Jr. Miners need only one more point to nose out the Pirates for third place.
In other weekend action, the East Hants Penguins who have clinched first place in the Fox Division finish their season with a pair of games on the road. They will play the Valley Maple Leafs Friday night in Windsor starting at 7:30 and then finish with the Sackville Blazers as noted Monday night.
