Colts and Bulldogs both in DOJO Playoffs
The Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs have secured a spot in the Don Johnson Memorial Cup semi-finals following their 5-1 thrashing of the Kensington P.E.I. Vipers in Cocagne, New Brunswick early this afternoon. With the loss by the Vipers who fell to 0-4-0, the Nova Scotia Provincial Champions, the Capstone Colts also clinched a playoff spot as they went into their game with the Cap Pele Knights late this afternoon.
For the Bulldogs who will play later this evening against the host Kent Koyotes, Zachary Lorette scored a pair of goals with singles being added by Brody MacPherson, Campbell Barrett and Will McKinnon. The Bulldogs held period leads of 2-0 and 3-1. This game between the two clubs who squared off the past two seasons for the Atlantic Championship with the Bulldogs winning both times, was the roughest of the tournament to date as 125 penalty minutes were handed out including 19 to one P.E.I. player in the final seconds of the game.
Now if the Colts defeat Cap Pele and Antigonish can win this evening, it will leave both Nova Scotia teams and the Koyotes with 3-1-0 records and additional tie breakers required to determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
