Capstone Colts

Colts Fred Fox Champions

The Capstone Colts secured the Fred Fox Division title for the second consecutive year, defeating the Lumberjacks 5–1 in Game 6 to claim the best-of-seven series 4–2.

In a decisive performance on the road, the Colts delivered one of their most complete efforts of the series. The victory capped off a hard-fought series that saw momentum shift at times, before the Colts ultimately regained control when it mattered most.

With the win, the Colts continue to establish themselves as a consistent contender within the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, capturing back-to-back division championships and advancing past the Fred Fox Division once again.

The Colts now prepare for the next round of the postseason and await their opponent which will either be the Antigonish Bulldogs or Eskasoni Jr. Eagles. Game 7 in the Sid Rowe Division Finals takes place on April 2nd in Antigonish at 7PM

Colts dethrone Bulldogs

The Capstone Colts led by three goals from Jacob Troini-Willis are the 2024-25 Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League Champions as a result of their 4-3 sudden-death overtime win over the Antigonish Jr. Bulldogs Saturday evening at the former C.F.B. Shearwater Forum.

Troini-Willis who scored twice in the first period after the Bulldogs took an early 2-0 lead, scored 1:17 into the second overtime to provide the Colts with their margin of victory and prevent the Bulldogs from securing a fourth consecutive Veteran’s Cup and a Nova Scotia Junior Championship Series win.  It marked the always competitive Colts first provincial Championship series win since originating in the Eastern Shore in 2011 before transferring to Cole Harbour in 2014 and then to Shearwater a couple of years later.

In Saturday’s win, the Colts only other goal besides the three from Troini-Willis was scored by Luke McPhee with 2:41 left in the second period which resulted in the game requiring two-overtime periods before a Provincial Champion was decided as the teams played a scoreless third period.  Earlier goals for the Bulldogs were scored by Owen Flemming and Owen Juurlnk who put the Bulldogs ahead 2-0 in the first before Brody MacPherson gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead 6:56 into the second period.  However it was all the scoring the Bulldogs would do. The Colts are now off to the Don Johnson Atlantic Cup in Cocagne NB this week!
